enleve a son domicile a N’Djamena par des forces armees. Il est\u00a0 presque certainement mort dans les
jours suivants. Nous ne pouvons oublier, nous voulons connaitre les circonstances de sa mort, et que
justice soit faite.
2) Prix Ibni: Les trois societes de mathematiques francaises, SFdS, SMAI et SMF\u00a0 ont cree en 2009 un
prix Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh, a sa memoire. Il est attribue tous les ans a un jeune mathematicien
ou une jeune mathematicienne d\u2019Afrique Centrale ou d\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Ouest et finance un sejour
scientifique de quelques mois. Les laureats 2009, 2010, 2011 et 2012 etaient Oumarou Abdou Arbi,
nigerien, Amadou Tall, senegalais, Solym Mawaki Sanou Abi, togolais et El Hadji Deme, senegalais. Le
laureat 2013 a ete proclame aujourd’hui, il s’agit de Koffi Wilfrid Houedanou, doctorant a l’IMSP au
Benin, qui accomplira une visite de recherche aupres de son co-directeur de these Serge Nicaise,
professeur a l’Universite de Valenciennes dans le cadre de sa these\u00a0 qui porte sur les estimations
d’erreurs a posteriori pour les problemes de transmission avec discretisation isotrope ou

Amnesty International, l\u2019ACAT et le Comite de Soutien a Ibni ont organise une Journee de Memoire le
samedi\u00a0 1 fevrier 2014 de 9h \u00e0 17h a la Maison des Associations d’Orleans-La Source.
En voici le prologue:\u00a0 “Apres avoir fait dispara\u00eetre Ibni, le regime tchadien s’est rendu compte
qu’en l\u2019eliminant, il l\u2019a rendu encore plus grand, plus mobilisateur, en le tuant il l\u2019a rendu plus
vivant ! Alors que le regime cherche a tuer le symbole qu’est Ibni en esperant qu\u2019avec le temps,
l\u2019oubli va s\u2019installer, la date anniversaire de la disparition d\u2019Ibni est en train de devenir au
contraire une date-clef pour rendre hommage, au-dela de sa personne, a toutes les victimes des
assassinats politiques au Tchad. Nous invitons les tchadiens et amis du Tchad a venir participer a
cette journee de memoire afin de visiter notre Exposition photo sur la repression au Tchad, de\u00a0
regarder le film documentaire sur la violence politique au Tchad, de participer a la
conference-d\u00e9bat (et aux differents temoignages) et \u00e0 la presentation du r\u00e9cit poetique de Chantal
Portillo sur Ibni. On partagera un repas tchadien a l\u2019occasion de cette journee.”
Cette journee emouvante a rassemble un grand nombre de tchadiens et d’amis du Tchad et a apporte le
temoignage que le Pr. Ibni est plus vivant que jamais dans leur coeur. Au-dela d’une journ\u00e9e de
memoire, elle a ete aussi une journ\u00e9e d’espoir, l’espoir d’un Tchad libre et democratique.

1) Petition:\u00a0 You are one of the 3505 signatories of the\u00a0 petition for “Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh “
(http:\/\/smf.emath.fr\/PetitionSaleh\/<\/a>) Six year ago, on February 3, Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh was
abducted from his home in N’Djamena by armed forces. He died almost certainly soon after. We cannot
forget this, we want to know the circumstances of his death, we want justice to be done.
2) Ibni Prize: The three French Mathematical Societies, SFdS, SMAI and SMF have created in 2009 the
Prize Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh in his memory. It is awarded annually to a young mathematician of
Central or West Africa. It funds a scientific visit.\u00a0 The recipient in 2013, announced today, is
Koffi Wilfrid Houedanou, who is a PhD student at IMPS in Benin. His thesis, entitled “A posteriori
error analysis for the transmission problems : Isotropic and Anisotropic Discretizations” is
supervised by Bernardin Ahounou in Benin and by Serge Nicaise, professor at the University of
Valenciennes. The prize will enable him to visit his second supervisor at the University of
Valenciennes for a few months.\u00a0 The recipients in 2009, 2010,\u00a0 2011 and 2012\u00a0 were respectively
Oumarou Abdou Arbi, from Niger, Amadou Tall, from Senegal, Solyme Abi Mawaki Sanou, from Togo and El

3) For information: a Remembrance Day in Orleans on February 1st of 2014
Amnesty International, ACAT (Action des Chr\u00e9tiens pour l’Abolition de la Torture) and the Support
Committee for Ibni organized a Remembrance Day at the Maison des Associations of Orl\u00e9ans-La Source
on Saturday, February 1st, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
they made him still greater, more mobilizing and that by killing him, they made him more alive! Now,
the regime is trying to kill the symbol Ibni and is hoping that as time goes by, oblivion will come.
On the contrary, the anniversary of the disappearance of Ibni is becoming the reference to pay
tribute, beyond his person, to all the victims of political assassinations in Chad. We invite
Chadians and friends of Chad to come and participate to this day of remembrance, where you will be
able visit our Photo Exhibit on the repression in Chad, to watch a documentary film on the political
violence in Chad, to participate to a round table (and to various witnessing) and to the
presentation of a poetical story by Chantal Portillo about Ibni. We shall share a Chadian meal on
the occasion of that day.”
This moving day brought together many Chadians and friends of Chad and has shown that Pr. Ibni is
more alive than ever in their heart. Beyond a day of memory, it also was a day of hope, the hope of
a free and democratic Chad.
