Cher ami, chere amie
\u00a0Le Prix \u00ab Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh \u00bb a ete cree pour garder vivante la memoire de notre collegue et
poursuivre son engagement en faveur des mathematiques en Afrique. Il est attribue tous les ans a un
jeune mathematicien ou une jeune mathematicienne d’Afrique subsaharienne par un comite scientifique
mis en place par le CIMPA. Le prix finance un sejour scientifique de quelques mois.
L’appel a candidatures 2011 est sur le site http:\/\/smf.emath.fr\/SouscriptionSaleh\/candidatures.html<\/a>
Les candidatures doivent etre envoyees avant le 15 novembre 2011. N’hesitez pas a diffuser
l’information.
Le prix a ete attribue en 2009 a Oumarou Abdou Arbi pour un sejour scientifique \u00e0 l’INRIA – Rennes,
et en 2010 \u00e0 Amadou Tall pour un sejour scientifique \u00e0 l’universit\u00e9 de Strasbourg.
Nous remercions la SMF d’avoir g\u00e9r\u00e9 la souscription pendant la p\u00e9riode de lancement du prix. Nous
remercions les trois societes savantes de math\u00e9matiques (SFdS, SMAI, SMF) pour leur soutien.\u00a0 Le
prix ne pourrait \u00eatre attribu\u00e9 sans le travail du comite scientifique,\u00a0 qui se reunit sous la
presidence de Enrique Zuazua, president du conseil scientifique du CIMPA. Qu’ils soient tousremercies ici, pour le travail passe et a venir.\u00a0 Apr\u00e8s cette p\u00e9riode de lancement (incluant le prix
2011), il convient de trouver pour ce prix des structures plus perennes. La souscription sera \u00e0
nouveau lancee d\u00e8s que celles-ci auront ete definies.

\u00a0 The Prize “Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh” has been created in memory of our colleague. It continues his
commitment to Mathematics in Africa. The prize awards each year a young mathematician from Central
Africa or West Africa. Applications are evaluated by a scientific committee set up by ICPAM. The
prize funds a scientific visit. The 2011 call for nominations is on the website
http:\/\/smf.emath.fr\/en\/SouscriptionSaleh\/candidatures.html<\/a> Applications must be sent before November
15, 2011. Please disseminate the information. The winners of the Ibni Prize 2009 and 2010 have been
Oumarou Abdou Arbi (for a scientific visit at Rennes, France) and Amadou Tall (for a scientific
visit at Strasbourg, France).
We thank the SMF (French Mathematical Society) to have handled the subscription for the prize during
the two first years.\u00a0 We thank the three mathematical societies in France (SFdS, SMAI, SMF) for
their support. The prize could not be awarded without the work of the scientific committee, which
deliberates under the chairmanship of Enrique Zuazua, president of the Scientific Council CIMPA.
They are all gratefully acknowledged for their work.
After this introductory period (including the price in 2011), more permanent structures must be
found for the prize. The subscription will again be launched as soon as they are established.
The truth about the fate of Ibni is still unknown! We want to know.
