1) Le Prix \u00ab Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh \u00bb a ete cree pour que la memoire de notre collegue reste
vivante et pour poursuivre son engagement en faveur des mathematiques en Afrique. Il est attribue
tous les ans a un jeune mathematicien ou une jeune mathematicienne d’Afrique subsaharienne par un
comite scientifique mis en place par le CIMPA. Il finance un sejour scientifique de quelques mois.

Les candidatures doivent etre envoyees avant le 15 novembre. N’hesitez pas a diffuser l’information.
Le prix a ete attribue en 2009 a Oumarou Abdou Arbi, qui, a la suite d’un sejour de recherche a
l’INRIA de Rennes finance par le Prix Ibni et la Region Bretagne a obtenu une bourse de these
francaise pour trois ans.
Nous sommes pres de 3 400 \u00e0 avoir signe la P\u00e9tition sur \u00ab Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh \u00bb. Environ 120
personnes ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la souscription, pour plus de 7500 euros. Nous esperons que nous serons

2) La sortie francaise (le 29 septembre) du film “Un homme qui crie … ” de Mahamat Saleh Haroun,
prix du Jury au Festival de Cannes en 2010 et qui aborde le contexte des evenements de fevrier 2008
au Tchad est l’occasion de faire signer les petitions demandant la verite sur le sort d’Ibni.\u00a0 En
plus de notre petition http:\/\/smf4.emath.fr\/PetitionSaleh\/formulaire.cgi\u00a0<\/a> signalons l’appel
d’Amnesty International pour demander une enquete impartiale sur la disparition de Ibni Oumar
Mahamat Saleh

3) Meme si la verite sur les circonstances du deces d’Ibni n’est toujours pas connue, la quete de la
verite se poursuit grace aux initiatives des uns et des autres. Les deputes francais\u00a0 ont vote \u00e0
l’unanimite fin mars une resolution appelant Paris a inviter les autorit\u00e9s tchadiennes a se
conformer a leurs engagements vis \u00e0 vis de la commission d’enqu\u00eate. Le Tchad a accepte fin juin que
des experts internationaux participent au comite de suivi de l’enquete sur la disparition d’Ibni
Oumar Mahamat Saleh. Le blog mis en place par le comite de soutien a Ibni Omar www.ibni-oumar.org se
fait regulierement l’echo des informations concernant l’evolution du dossier.

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Prize “Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh” has been created in memory of our colleague and to continue
its commitment to Mathematics in Africa. The prize is awarded annually to a young mathematician from
Central Africa or West Africa. Applications are evaluated by a scientific committee set up by ICPAM.
It funds a scientific visit. The 2010 call for nominations is on the website
http:\/\/smf.emath.fr\/en\/SouscriptionSaleh\/candidatures.html<\/a> Applications must be sent before November
15, 2010. Please disseminate the information. The winner of the Ibni Prize 2009 is Oumarou Abdou
Arbi. After a long scientific stay at IRIA Rennes , which has been supported jointly by the Ibni
Prize and the region Bretagne, he has been awarded a scholarship to prepare there his doctorate.<\/p>\n

backdrop of Chad’s civil war during which Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh has been kidnapped. The film has
received a Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film\u2019s release gives new opportunities to sign petitions demanding the truth about the fate of

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Even if the truth about the circumstances of the death of Ibni is still not known, the search for
truth continues, thanks to many initiatives. The French deputies\u00a0 voted unanimously in late March a
resolution calling Paris to invite the Chadian authorities to comply with their commitments. Chad
has agreed in late June that international experts participate in the committee monitoring the
investigation into the disappearance of Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh. The blog set up by the committee
support of Ibni Oumar\u00a0 www.ibni-oumar.org gives regular information concerning the evolution of the
case.
