Combinatorics and harmonic analysis on p-adic Lie groups

Résumé :
In this talk we see how the combinatorial language of "alcove walks" can be used in the study of spherical harmonic analysis on p-adic Lie groups. In fact, we also discuss the connections between alcove walks and certain aspects of building theory and symmetric function theory. We illustrate these connections by proving a simple combinatorial statement which has implications in building theory, symmetric function theory, and p-adic Lie groups. This is joint work with Arun Ram.
