Black hole microstate counting and its macroscopic counterpart

Résumé :
In this talk I shall describe how the near horizon geometry of an extremal black hole contains precise information about the ensemble of quantum states the black hole represents. This includes not only the total number of states in the ensemble, but also distribution of global charges among the members of the ensemble.
