Reconstruction of phase dynamics from macroscopic observations of response

Résumé :

Phase dynamics describes synchronization of rhythmical elements mathematically, the dynamical system in the real world is mostly unknown however. We propose a method to infer the phase dynamics: the natural frequency distribution, the coupling function, and the time delay of interaction. This method uses macroscopic observations of response to weak external forces, and it is not invasive accordingly. We demonstrate efficiency of the method in two phase systems.
