Heavy quark number susceptibility, diffusion constants and deconfinement temperature in a magnetic field: a preliminary view from AdS/QCD

Résumé :
I discuss the influence of a background magnetic field on the J/Psi vector meson in a DBI-extension of the soft wall model. Attention is paid to the quark number susceptibility and diffusion constants of charm quarks. The effects of the magnetic field are considered both from a direct as indirect (medium) viewpoint. The magnetic field induces an anisotropic diffusion, with a stronger diffusion in the longitudinal direction compared to the transversal one. A hanging string analysis of heavy quark diffusion in a magnetic field confirms these findings qualitatively. From the quark number susceptibility, an estimate for the effective deconfinement temperature in the heavy quark sector can be extracted, reporting consistency with the phenomenon of inverse magnetic catalysis. Weaknesses of the current approach are also highlighted, with an outlook to future improvements. This talk is based on joint work with T. Mertens and M. Vandemaele.
