Random walks on buildingsJames Parkinson (Univ. Sydney)
Friday 10 November 2017 10:45 - Tours - Salle 1180 (Bât E2)
Résumé :
Buildings are combinatorial/geometric objects whose theory grew from the fundamental work of Jacques Tits, whose initial goal was to give a uniform description of semisimple Lie groups and algebraic groups by associating a geometry to each such group. In the first part of this talk we will give an overview of the theory of buildings, and in the second part we will discuss the theory of random walks on buildings.
