Classical duals of 3D gravity as geometric actions on coadjoint orbits

Résumé :
The solution space of 3D asymptotically anti-de Sitter or flat Einstein gravity is given by the coadjoint representation of two copies of the Virasoro group in the former and the centrally extended BMS3 group in the latter case. By studying geometric actions on coadjoint orbits of these asymptotic symmetry groups, we derive classical dual field theories of 3D gravity from a group-theoretical viewpoint. These geometric actions generalize known classical duals by allowing non-trivial periodicities in the dynamical fields, whose possible physical implications are briefly discussed.
