Résumé :
Chern-Simons theories for the AdS gauge group in $D=2n-1$ dimensions are reviewed. They can be viewed as describing the boundary degrees of freedom for a $2n$-dimensional topological field theory in a bounded region. If instead of being bounded, the region has a topological defect of co-dimension 2, the action describes a $(2n-2)$-dimensional gravitational effective theory. Starting with a topological action in $6D$, the exercise yields $4D$ Einstein gravity at the defect.
