Résumé :
We show that a generalization of the Wigner-Inonu contraction permits to link an eleven-dimensional AdS supergravity theory invariant under Osp(32,1) with a gauge theory for the M-algebra. We first show that the standard Wigner-Inonu contraction on the AdS theory gives rise to a consistent theory but the resulting Lagrangian is decoupled from the vielbein. In contrast, the next order in the contraction contains a gravitational Lagrangian given by the dimensional continuation of the Euler density but does not define a supersymmetric theory. We prove that the procedure to render supersymmetric these terms naturally brings in the gauge structure of the M-algebra.
