Résumé :
Studying initial data for relativity theory, Eichmair, Galloway and Mendes were able to successfully apply minimal hypersurface techniques to prove a theorem of the following kind: Under geometric conditions on the initial data set -- most notably that it satisfies the dominant energy condition (DEC) -- and topological assumptions on the base manifold, they found that the initial data set must be of a very special form. Motivated by an analogous theorem obtained via spinorial methods, we will revisit their theorem and derive an a priori stronger conclusion under the same assumptions. As an application, we obtain that there is essentially only one DEC spacetime into which these initial data sets can embed.
