Il y a un an disparaissait Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh, enleve a son domicile par des forces armees.
Selon le rapport de la commission d’enquete rendu public en septembre dernier, cet enlevement etait
le fait de l’armee tchadienne, et il est quasi certain que Ibni est mort incarcere dans les jours
suivants, dans des circonstances non elucidees.
Plus que jamais nous voulons que lumière soit faite et justice rendue.

3. Amnesty International a une nouvelle fois denonce les violations des droits de l’homme au Tchad,

4. Un prix Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh est en train d’etre cree pour que sa memoire reste vivante et
pour poursuivre son engagement en faveur des mathematiques en Afrique. Cette action est lancee en
commun par les trois societes, SMF, SMAI et SFdS. Le prix sera attribue tous les ans a un jeune
mathematicien africain par un comite scientifique mis en place par le CIMPA. Il financera un sejour
scientifique. Une souscription internationale, a laquelle les signataires de la petition seront
appeles a contribuer, sera mise en place. L’opération de lancement est en cours, avec le calendrier
suivant: -accord des conseils d’administration des trois societes sur la définition du prix
au plus tard le 30 avril 2009 accord du CIMPA sur la procédure; -lancement de la souscription
au plus tard debut mai; -lancement du premier appel a candidatures avant le 30 juin 2009
-choix du premier beneficiaire avant le 31 décembre 2009.
5. Une manifestation a l’initiative de la famille d’Ibni et de ses amis est prevue le samedi 7

Restons unis pour demander la verite et la justice, et gardons vivante la memoire d’Ibni en
contribuant a assurer une formation de qualite aux jeunes scientifiques africains

One year ago Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh has disappeared from his home, abducted by armed forces.
According to the report of the Investigation Committee, whose conclusions have been made public last
September, this kidnapping was due to the Chadian Army, and it is almost certain that has died in
custody within the next few days, under unknown circumstances.
More than ever we want truth and justice.

4. A prize Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh is being created, to keep his memory alive and to continue his
commitment to mathematics in Africa. This action is being launched jointly by the three societies,
SMF, SFdS and SMAI. The prize will be awarded annually to a young African mathematician by a
scientific committee set up by CIMPA/ ICPAM (International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics,
http://www.cimpa-icpam.org/index.php). The award will fund a scientific project. An international
subscription, to which the signatories of the petition will be invited to contribute, will be
established. The operation is now being launched, with the following schedule: – Agreement of
the boards of the three societies on the definition of the prize before April 30. – Agreement
of the CIMPA on the process. – Launch of the subscription early May; – Launch of first
call for applications before June 30, 2009 – Award of the first prize before December 31,
2009.
