Bonjour
1) Notre petition avait recueilli ce matin 1772 signatures. Pour les nouveaux signataires: un resume
des actions et reactions precedentes peut etre consulte sur

2) Nous n’avons eu aucune reaction et encore moins de reponse venues des autorites francaises ou
tchadiennes auxquelles nous avons remis la petition le 14 mars et que nous avons recontactees par
courriel le 21 mars.
3) La communaute mathematique internationale se mobilise. En France, la SFdS (Societe francaise de
Statistique) a joint ses efforts a ceux de la SMF et de la SMAI pour demander la verite sur le
sort d’Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh. Au Canada, l’ensemble des adherents de la CMS ont ete informes et
invités à signer, http://www.smc.math.ca/bulletins/2008/appeal.html. En Inde, la Ramanujan
Mathematical Society a egalement informe ses membres de la petition. L’EMS a prevu d’envoyer un
courriel a toutes les societes savantes europeennes adherentes. Le prochain bulletin de l’IMU
diffusera l’information.
4) Un dossier concernant Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh et son enlevement se trouve en
http://smf.emath.fr/PetitionSaleh/documents. N’hesitez pas a diffuser cette information pour
augmenter le nombre des signataires.

1) We had this morning 1772 signatories. For new signatories: messages on former initiatives are

2) No reaction and no answer from the French or Chadian authorities so far, even after the mail of
March 21.
3) The international mathematical community is mobilized. In France, SFdS (Societe francaise de
Statistique) joined its efforts with SMF and SMAI to know the truth about the fate of Ibni Oumar
Mahamet Saleh. In Canada, all CMS members are informed of the situation and asked to sign the
petition, http://www.smc.math.ca/bulletins/2008/appeal.html In India, the Ramanujan Mathematical
Society has also informed its members. The EMS (European Mathematical Society) intends to send a
message to all the European mathematical societies that are its members. The IMU will give
information in its next bulletin.
