Maathrafic-Practical

This one-for-all message contains

  1.  a link to the detailed programme, including titles and abstracts for a large part of the talks
  2.  practical information (conference site, railway, buses, hotel, meals)
  3.  Note that on Wednesday, the talks end at noon and the afternoon is free
     until the General Public conference at 6PM (conference by Bertrand Maury, given in french at the Site Tanneurs, entrance Z, Amphi 2)
     and/or the Conference Dinner at 7:30PM + epsilon (there is some flexibility, please arrive not later then 8PM!)
     that will take place next to the Site Tanneurs, at Chez Dupont – La Guinguette de Tours sur Loire
     (this is the smaller one to the right from the bridge, not the huge Guinguette to the left from the bridge ! ).

  4.  mention of a few tourist attractions in Tours and surroundings
Details are provided below. 
 
  1. PROGRAMME :

  2. PRACTICAL : 

    * Venue : the conference will take place at
       Campus Grandmont, Tours, in Building E1, Amphi E030 « Ahmad El-Soufi »
       To reach the site from the railway station Tours Centre and from the hotels reserved for the speakers,
       one takes bus 2 (direction Hôpital Trousseau) at the stop Jaures or at the stop Salengro .
       The bus 2 is very frequent, it takes less than 25 minutes (waiting+ride) to reach the Campus Grandmont.
       To reach the conference site, you should get off the bus at the stop Fac Grandmont .
       Then Amphi E030 in Bâtiment E1 is at circa 150 meters, leftward across the road.
       

    * Arrival : You may arrive to Tours via the Saint-Pierre-des-Corps railway station (this is the « TGV station » of Tours, it lies just 4km from Tours) or via Tours Centre station.
      From Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, you can reach the Tours Centre railway station and the hotel by train (usually, it leaves 5-10 min. after the arrival of your train to Saint-Pierre)
      but you can also take the bus No.16, direction Joue Gare, to the stop Fac Grandmont . The frequency of the bus No.16 is 3 buses per hour, the ride takes less than 25 minutes.

    *  The hotel for most of the speakers and participants is Sejours et Affaires Tours Leonard de Vinci
       It is very close to the railway station Tours Centre and clos to the bus 2 stops (stop Salengro or stop Jaures near the very central Place Jaures).
       To reach the historical center, you can follow the Rue Nationale from Place Jaures (you can follow the tram rails from the hotel to Rue Nationale).
       To the right of the Rue Nationale you’ll find the Cathedral, the Beaux-Arts Museum, the Compagnonnage Museum and plenty of restaurants.
       To the left of the Rue Nationale you’ll find the Place Plumereau, the Saint-Martin-of-Tours Church, the Charlemagne Tower, the Halles of Tours, and plenty of bars.
       Reaching the Loire river banks, you’ll find promenades and la Guinguette de Tours where the Conference Dinner will take place on Wednesday evening. 

    * Lunches of Tuesday and Thursday will take place nearby the conference site, we have a dedicated space where we will be served a buffet including vegetarian dishes.
      If you arrive on Monday before 12:30 PM at the conference site, you can have a ticket for the lunch at the Resto U (students’ canteen)
      near the conference site (please contact Boris, see below, for getting tickets and directions).

    * Internet connexion : Eduroam and Eduspot are available at the conference site

    * In case of troubles, urgent matters,… : contact Boris Andreianov at +33 633437314 (phone call or Whatsapp, Telegram, Viber).

  3. Wednesday lunch options are :
     * either a sandwich + bottle of water + some cherries, fruit,…, so that you can leave immediately after the talk
       (e.g., to visit the  Amboise town and castle with the train TER 860006 leaving at 12:59 from Tours Centre or at 13:05 from Saint-Pierre-des-Corps)
     * or a ticket for lunch at the Resto U (students’ canteen)
    In both cases, vegetarian option is possible. 
    You’ll need to reserve your sandwich if you opt for a sandwich!

  4.  Visit the tourist information site of the city of Tours to learn about
     Le Vieux Tours, La Place Plumereau aka Place Plum’, L’Eglise Saint-Martin-de-Tours, Le Prieuré Saint-Cosme demeure de Pierre Ronsard, La Cathédrale Saint-Gatien, Le Musée de Compagnonnage, Le Musée des Beaux-Arts, Les Halles de Tours…
    It is possible to visit the famous Amboise Royal Castle (train schedule on Wednesday afternoon is compatible with our schedule),
    it is a bit more difficult, using public transportation, to visit the small but also famous castle Azay-le-Rideau .
